stuck on you by timetraveled [Merlin RPS], (Colin/Bradley). The first thing Colin notices about Bradley the first time he meets him is his silver thumb ring. [merlin rpf is fast becoming one of my favorites. they are so adorable and the writing of them matches the video clips everyone in the fandom has seen.]

Clear as western skies by mwestbelle [Bandom, MCR], (Bob/Gerard). Wherein Bob gets a mail order bride, and gets more than he bargained for. [seriously. so cute. bob is such a nice guy in this fic. i like how you know (well, i did) what is going on and bob doesn't. i really would have liked to know who pete got. XD]

Hold The Pose
by zarah5 [Bandom - PATD] (Brendon/Ryan, Jon/Spencer, R, ~42,000)
Summary: In which Brendon cleans the apartment of published author Ryan Ross to finance his college studies, and Spencer opens up an Indian style café and hires Jon to brew his fair trade coffee.
[I went into bandom big bang firmly decided I wasn't going to rec any this week, because that's all everyone will be doing in all bandom rec posts everywhere, lol. However, I hadn't even finished this one (the first one I started) before realizing I absolutely had to! It's been a while since I've read a bandom fic that I just couldn't take a break from, couldn't get distracted from. I absolutely loved this, loved the characters and the flow- the writing is just magnificent, fabulous. It certainly doesn't hurt that it has two gorgeous pieces of art and two brilliant mixes with it. Definitely, definitely, definitely worth checking out.]

Sketches In The Air
by zarah5 [Merlin] (Arthur/Merlin, R, ~9000)
Summary: In which there are warnings, crossbow lessons and multiple revelations.
[I realize that this post contains 2 Zarah fics, but I couldn't help it- reading the big bang made me go snoop around for other fic, as well, and I stumbled over this. I thought this was a great look at Merlin and Arthur and dealing with the discovery of magic and whatnot- too often it tends to follow a set route, whereas this seemed to wander off on it's own path- similar but not predictably word for word as too many I've read do. For a first time Merlin author, there's an absolutely gorgeous grasp of the characters- everything was 100% believable, something I am ridiculously jealous of. Win~]

That Guy
by wearemany [American Idol] (Adam Lambert/Kris Allen, R, ~4500)
Summary: "What's your favorite thing to do on tour?" a reporter calls out. "People watch," Kris answers, and the corner of Adam's mouth rises in a smile.
[wearemany writes some really great Idol fic (I'm sure the other fic posted is good, too, I've just not gotten around to reading it, lol)--- the interactions of the characters are smooth and natural, something that really sells me on a fic. Really, though- very believable, very well written, great grasp of character and what's going on. Love love love it.]

Turn Your Camera On
by stereomer [American Idol] (Gen, PG, 2800)
Summary: Three pictures that were taken in the house.
[This was a really cute look at life inside the Idol mansion, 3 wonderfully written snapshots of the contestants and how they interact--- goofy and sweet and funny and lovely.]

the science of selling yourself short by repulsive_x [Bandom, PATD], (Jon/Spencer). in which jon is brent's hot, older brother, and unknowningly takes spencer's virginity. in other words, it's basically smut. [jon/spencer! it's been so long since i've read a really good jon/spencer fic. this is amazing.]

Clear as western skies by mwestbelle [Bandom, MCR], (Bob/Gerard). Wherein Bob gets a mail order bride, and gets more than he bargained for. [seriously, so cute. i love all the characterizations and how they all interact with each other. i'd like to see more in this verse.]

I am back from the land of adventure, and back from the land of fail!
With recs, even!
Hoorah?

Also, please note- I have a rec here from DreamWidth, and I'm sure there's some fancy way to make that name show up all linked and usernamey, but I'm not in any state of mind to be able to figure out how. So, um. Sorry.

Anywho! Recs!

An Ever-Fixed Mark
by casspeach [Merlin - RPS] (Bradley/Colin, Arthur/Merlin, NC17, ~8500)
Summary: Written for kinkme_merlin prompt RPF, Bradley/Colin, reincarnation with a twist. Colin is Arthur reincarnated and Bradley is Merlin Title taken from Shakespeare's sonnet 116 Let me not to the marriage of true minds
[This was the sort of thing I kind of rolled my eyes at and went "sure", but went ahead and read anyway- and I positively loved it! So well done! I was surprised to find myself so pleased with it. Well written and oddly believable, all things considered.]

More
by disarm_d [American Idol - Bandom - PATD] (Adam Lambert/Brendon Urie, NC17, ~18000)
Summary: "Don't you have experience with this kind of thing?" Adam asks.
"Dick?" Brendon asks, blinking.
Notes: I read this before reading any of the others and was fine and understood- however it is a sequel to Kiss And Tell, yet coming before (or at the same time as?) Got That Certain Something (both by disarm_d)--- also, if you like it, it goes well with this untitled snippet by wearemany, as that expands a scene in this story.
[This is the story I didn't even know I needed. I've linked above the other stories of the same pairing. My best friend had to put up with so much flailing from me over this! I didn't even know my life was missing this pairing! And it's written so absolutely realistically! I could see everything happening, and it was RIDICULOUSLY believable. Very well developed, lovely character voices, and just an overall amazing grasp at everything. Love love loved it. I highly suggest reading it. Highly.]

The Ocean Of Your Sound
by willowbell [Bandom - CS - TAI] (Gabe/William, PG)
Summary: This is an AU set in the future, in the universe where Jeffrey McDaniel's "The Quiet World" becomes a part of life.
[I normally don't read Gabe/William, not that I don't like it, I just generally steer toward other pairings... but this had such an interesting concept that I went for it. And that was a great decision. It's a crazy, crazy concept based off a wonderful poem, in which people are allotted 167 words a day... and it translated wonderfully from that poem into willowbell's fic.]

Three Times Victoria Said "I Hate You" (And The One Time She Didn't Just Leave It At That)
by shatteredink [Bandom - CS] (Gabe/Victoria, PG13)
Summary: “Gabe, what the hell?”
“That depends on what you mean by, ‘Gabe, what the hell.'”
in other words, SLIGHTLY RIDICULOUS FLUFF.
[I was just in a Cobra mood the other day, because normally I wouldn't have read Gabe/VickyT fic either... but again, I am glad I did. This was cute, funny, and fastpaced- all of which I liked about it.]

Zen
by astolat [American Idol] (Adam Lambert/Kris Allen, explicit, 1100)
Summary: The hotel room was almost too quiet after the rush of the day and the steady drumming of the shower: the triple-glazed glass kept out the noise of Times Square, so the billboards flashed silently and the taxis and traffic slid by without a sound, like being in space. Kris stood at the window in his sweatpants and t-shirt, staring out at it blankly until Adam knocked on the door.
[I keep waiting on someone to call me out for reccing astolat so much, but I can't help it. Yet again, another amazing piece from her that pretty much set the tone for how I see this relationship when I read fic. Lol. Just absolutely lovely.]

Claused by astolat [American Idol RPF], (Cook/Archie). So there was this clause in the contracts, where as long as he was single, he had to go out with another 19E client for at least four weeks at their request. [apparently when you're a singer, you are contracted to have to date someone. who knew? archie is bit of a moron in this, but he makes up for it at the end.]

God Only Knows by mixtapestar [Bandom-PATD], (Jon/Spencer, Brendon/Ryan). Spencer has been Catholic his entire life. In the days leading up to Ash Wednesday, he ponders his recent breakup and consequently decides to give up guys for Lent. A few days later, he meets Jon Walker. [spencer is a catholic and gives up boys for lent. enter jon walker and sexual tension.]

Courtship of Harry Potter by Diana Williams [Harry Potter], (Harry/Snape). This story is based on a challenge from DarkLady, to wit "Suppose it were a usual thing in Wizarding culture that a young man take an older man as a lover/mentor. Mix in a flashy and ill-intentioned rival, and Snape's machinations to ensure that he is Harry's choice. Extra bunny - a clear period and ritual to the courtship, with the rival managing smoothly while Snape's gestures all appear to fall flat. Of course, our Harry is a better judge of character than that..." [harry gets courted by snape and some other guy. i think we all know who wins his heart.]

Hard To Believe in Sundays
by torakowalski [Bandom - Panic At The Disco], (Jon/Ryan, NC-17, 21k words)
Ryan shouldn't be making out with one of The Academy Is…'s techs in the dusky brown darkness behind his own fucking tour bus where everyone, anyone, could see.
[A different take on the Truckstops and Statelines Tour. Love the pacing and how the story developed.]

Heaven Help Us
by bexless [Bandom - My Chemical Romance], (Frank/Gerard + Ray/Mikey, NC-17, 68k words)
"It would seem," the Cardinal finished, "that Father Way's body has disappeared."

There was a silence. Eventually Bob said, "What the fuck?"

"Yes," said the Cardinal. "Quite."

[Last part in the Unholyverse series. (I can't believe it's done! ;____;) There were some parts - like demon!Gerard or possessed!Frank - that squicked me hard enough that I had to walk away. But the Ray/Mikey parts and the ending resolution made up for it about 1000 times over. Satisfying end to an amazing story. There were so many humorous and exciting parts. And I can't believe it's done!]

How to Avoid Kicking Puppies and Other Valuable Lessons in Leadership
by sparky77 [Star Trek XI], (gen, R, 2700 words)
Sulu just grins at him like this is all the biggest joke ever. Chekov rolls his eyes and then enunciates very clearly, like he’s speaking to someone a little bit slow, and sometimes he really does wonder about Sulu. “I punched a superior officer in the face!”
[Hilarious with bonus UST.]

just like a bullet leaves a gun
by carolinecrane [Star Trek XI], (Sulu/Chekov, R, 2900 words)
Sometimes you just need a little push in the right direction.
[I found this hot, and I loved the pacing and buildup. The hopeful ending was a bonus plus.]

A Formal Dance in the Bowling Alley
by loneraven [Star Trek XI], (gen, PG, 2165 words)
Here are some things that James Tiberius Kirk, Captain, does not understand about the USS Enterprise and her crew.
[Really adorable and amusing gen piece that continues in the movie plotline.]

A Piece of the Game
by deepsix [Star Trek XI], (Kirk/Spock, R, 1085 words)
Kirk is taking this thing too far; Spock intervenes.
[So hot, love the visible tension between both Kirk and Spock and how Spock remains impassive and expressionless even when he's chocking Kirk. Ngl. The ending phrase was right on, too.]

Stuck on you by timetraveled [Merlin RPS], (Bradley/Colin). The first thing Colin notices about Bradley the first time he meets him is his silver thumb ring. [merlin rpf is fast becoming one of my favorites. they are so adorable and the writing of them matches the video clips everyone in the fandom has seen.]

Rite of Passage by Rushlight [Harry Potter], (Severus/Harry). When Harry comes of age in the wizarding world, he has to find someone to aid him in the passage to adulthood. [it's another classic set up and it works really well. i love how the characters are portrayed, harry wanting it and snape being all "no." but relenting in the end.]

Most Exhausting Girl I Ever Knew
by fallintosilence and boweryd [Bandom - Panic At The Disco], (always-a-girl!Spencer/Ryan, NC-17, 4113 words)
"Stop being so stupid and stubborn already and take your pants off."
[Gratuitous porn with an underlying sweet tone. Absolute must-read genderswap of fumbling teenagers.]
